Chianti.com is an independent travel guide dedicated to one of the most iconic areas of Tuscany — the hills, vineyards, medieval towns, and landscapes between Florence and Siena. We are a small team based in Florence, and we have been exploring and writing about the Chianti region since 2002.
Our story began a few years earlier, when Lourdes moved to Florence in 1997 as a study–abroad student and stayed. Her love for Italy, combined with Stefano’s deep Tuscan roots, led us to create travel guides that reflect the places we live in and experience every day. Chianti.com is our way of sharing a region that we truly admire — not just for its wine, but for its history, landscapes, traditions, and people.
What We Do
We visit the towns, wineries, viewpoints, castles, restaurants, hiking trails, and local festivals that make Chianti unique. We write guides, share practical advice, answer traveler questions on our “Ask the Locals” forum, and publish articles designed to help visitors enjoy this area in an authentic and meaningful way.
Everything we publish is based on first-hand experience — whether it’s a scenic road, a historic village, a family-run winery, or a panoramic hiking route.
Our Editorial Approach
We believe travel information should be honest, practical, and grounded in real life. That’s why we aim to:
- write mainly about places and experiences we have personally visited or tried;
- update our guides regularly to keep information as accurate as possible;
- prioritize clarity and usefulness over trends or promotional language;
- maintain full editorial independence.
We do our best to keep every detail updated, but Chianti — like all of Tuscany — is a living region, shaped by seasons and traditions. Opening times, tastings, tours, and event schedules may change unexpectedly, so we always recommend double-checking the most important details through official sources.
Why You Can Trust Us
We live here. We raise our family in Tuscany. We experience Chianti not only as travelers, but as locals who know its rhythms, roads, and seasons.
For over twenty years, travelers from all over the world have used our guides because we offer something increasingly rare online: first-hand experience, not recycled content. Many of the photos on Chianti.com were taken during our own visits, walks, and bike rides through the region — especially on the quiet scenic roads that Stefano often explores on two wheels.
The People Behind Chianti.com

Lourdes
Originally from California, Lourdes moved to Florence in 1997 and soon fell in love with the landscapes, culture, and slower rhythm of Tuscany. She is the editor-in-chief of our guides and manages much of our content and traveler support on the forum. She enjoys exploring small towns, local food traditions, scenic drives, and quiet cafés — always looking for insights that might help our readers.

Stefano
Born into a family from Florence and Siena, and later a university student in Pisa, Stefano knows Tuscany deeply. He manages the technical side of our websites, contributes articles, and takes many of the photos you see on Chianti.com — often while cycling along the rolling hills, vineyards, and panoramic roads of the region.
A Note of Thanks
Over the years, several friends and local contributors have helped enrich our guides. We especially thank Cristina for her important contribution in the early years of the project.
